Political Icon James Carville to Address National Chiropractic Legislative Conference
The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) announced that well-known political strategist and media personality James Carville will deliver the keynote address during the 2008 National Chiropractic Legislative Conference (NCLC) scheduled for Feb. 28-29 in Washington, D.C. Carville will speak to conference participants on Thursday, Feb. 28 during the NCMIC-sponsored General Session.
Carville, also known as the “Ragin’ Cajun,” is one of America’s best known political consultants and is believed to have managed more political campaigns than anyone in history. He gained national attention in 1992 as lead strategist of the successful presidential campaign of Bill Clinton and was featured in the Academy Award nominated documentary The War Room. During his presentation at NCLC, Carville will offer an insider’s analysis of the 2008 election and the players and policies influencing this unusual political season.
“I’m thrilled to welcome James Carville to NCLC,” said ACA President Glenn Manceaux, DC. “Conference attendees can expect a very lively and thought-provoking discussion on the future of American politics, especially as it relates to the upcoming presidential election.”
In addition to his past experiences as a political consultant, Carville is also an author, actor, producer, talk-show host, speaker and restaurateur. His book, All’s Fair: Love, War, and Running for President, spent eight weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. Carville can be seen regularly on television as a CNN commentator and contributor. In addition, he’s host of XM radio’s “60/20” weekly sports show.
NCLC is the chiropractic profession’s most important public policy and educational event. Hundreds of doctors of chiropractic and chiropractic students from across the country will gather in Washington, D.C., to meet with members of Congress to advocate for the issues that matter most to them and their patients.
This year’s meeting agenda will focus on several important topics, including national health care reform and opportunities for chiropractic in Medicare. Attendees will also hear from some of today’s leading policymakers. At past meetings, speakers included House Minority Leader John Boehner, Sen. Chuck Grassley, former Sen. Tom Daschle, and former HHS Chief Tommy Thompson.
