Lower Back Pain

Do you suffer from lower back pain? If you do, you are not alone. Lower back pain can have an effect on your everyday life and interfere with many common activities such as with work, your daily normal routine and/or recreation. Studies have shown that at least $50 billion are spent on low back pain products; this is the most common factor leading to missed work and cause of disability within the workplace. In the United States, back pain is the second most common neurological ailment. The majority of low back pain occurrences pass within a few days. But others may take a much longer time to recover from and/or potentially lead to more serious physical conditions.

Contact your local chiropractor about your acute or chronic lower back pain and start chiropractic care.

Typically acute or short-term low back pain may last a couple of days to a few weeks. If you have suffered any type of pain from trauma it may have been caused by common activities such as a sports injury, a sudden jolt (example from a car accident) and/or stress placed upon the spinal tissue and bones. Common symptoms may range from aching muscles to intense shooting pain, limited range of motion and/or flexibility. If acute pain is left untreated the consequences can become more serious through time.

The length of back pain that persists for longer than 3months is considered chronic back pain. The cause is usually difficult to conclude and is often considered progressive.

Below Are Some Conditions Associated With Low Back Pain:

  • Bulging disc
  • Sciatica
  • Skeletal irregularities
  • Spinal degeneration
  • Osteoporosis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Spondylitis

Having a complete and through physical examination and family medical history review can usually determine if any symptom and/or condition may lead to complications associated with the pain you are feeling. A patient may help by determining the severity of the pain, describing the location, the length of time symptoms may have been endured and/or any limited of movement experienced; and also any previous occurrences or health conditions that can be linked to the pain. Spinal manipulation is an approach in which professionally trained specialists use a sequence of exercises and leverage to help restore mobility by adjusting the spinal structure.

Many people who suffer from low back pain can be treated with chiropractic techniques and therapies without the need for surgery. Treatment involves reducing inflammation, restoring correct function, preventing return of the injury and using analgesics. Most people with back pain recover without functional loss. If there is not a noticeable reduction of inflammation and pain after 72 hours you should contact a chiropractor immediately.

Contact your local chiropractor about your acute or chronic lower back pain and start chiropractic care.
